I still think you should show pics of the hotel, tram and Starbucks at the top. And when the crowds show up this summer, just put a "COMING SOON!" sign up at the store. (You can say you're on the same development schedule as the Portal Preserve...)

OK So with my most serious face I was at a meeting and said the Portal Project would be sold out soon , the first lot is now under construction and at this rate the last house would be constructed by 2285. Jim Walters is a good friend of mine but got caught in the Politics , he assumed that you took the requirements and applications, filled in the boxes and it was a done deal. The County and many local people support his project, but once it became a battle ground for no growth he was side tracked for 6-8 years as the appeals went forward and then the depression hit, Values in Inyo have been slow to recover and many that would of bought now are recovering in the normal areas that would purchase a retirement home in Inyo.
OK so on a positive note Amy and Myles will be at the show today "So come on down" was that Chic Herns line ????? Or Whoa Nellie

Too bad about the Portal Preserve, but holy hell! Chick Hearns!! Bowling for Dollars! There's something that probably would've stayed dormant and forgotten in my brain forever had you not mentioned him.
Haha, only on the Whitney Portal Board!
Oh, and tell Myles I will buy him dinner at the Merry-go-Round for a tour of the Dino Cracks tunnel system. Tried again a week and a half ago and kept getting spit out on top...

Doug, I'm trusting you know all Betsy's flower pictures by name: Red, Blue, Yellow, and Purple.
Nice to see pictures of everybody at the show.
Remember to have fun!!!
Crazy Jack. PS. Betsy is in Indiana seeing snow, but no flowers.

Thank you Doug for giving my son a copy of your book from your secret stash at the show last night. I hope to have him up to the Portal one day to give the MWT a try. Like I told you, I've done the MWT 5 years in a row, and for some reason, last night was the first time we've spoken. (this is my first post for that matter) Seems like you've always been very busy "cooking" when we roll through.

Hi Doug. It was great seeing you at the booth and for the 1:00 presentation on Sunday. My nephew Ryan and brother in law Alan liked it and appreciated your friendliness. It was informative and hopefully inspired newbys ! I am looking forward to another trip "up the hill" at some point in the future.
Regards,
Bob Carley

Hi Bob Great seeing you at the show I wrote a long reply but looks like I didn't hit send. Thanks everyone for coming and chatting awhile. First day I ask the small group if they were there for the Whitney Talk answer What? I said I won't bother you with the noise , rest of the week went very well, ( soft chairs, flower pictures.....).
We also do a panel for the Eastern Sierra each day and that is well attended, well Sunday 4 guest 5 speakers but we were all glad is was light and could interact with the small group and the people stopping in. Radio Show on Sunday morning is well attended and call in questions can be interesting and as above 5-6 of us are on the Panel so when ask where is the best fishing......camping , dining hiking, we all try to share a few secret spots. Tim Alpers and I share a secret spot it is near Mammoth turn at the Green Church travel east out to the River turn left park and walk north fishing the under banks for great Browns. We also share during 1982 we found the most uplift in his area.
Again Thanks for the support.
The Portal Folks Amy made it 1 day Myles the week, Brian, Wayne Janet, Mario , Marsha and Steve And holding the gang in tow Earlene.
