I'm not a fan of the view that these 'so-called' environmentalists are pushing, but it is interesting that how urban loving advocates view the wilderness.

My opinion is that the opposers of Muir are not environmentalists at all. They don't appear to understand Muir in a fair historical context and certainly have not spent enough solitary time in the Sierra.

I'm glad I'm not relegated to visiting nature in an "urban park or urban river"

Did the JMT this summer with my wife. The sheer vastness of the Sierras is overwhelming.It's stark beauty from the high passes is almost beyond belief. We live in such populace place yet,with a little bit of work,one can visit places seen by few.

John Muir is more relevant today then ever.Anyone who thinks not, should stay in LA. No offense to those from there who see the big picture.
