Hi Doug,
Rick G. and I met Tim and Charlie on Ski hut trail today. According to Tim, there will be over 700 hikers for the event and WPSMB is the biggest group. It will be a fun hike for everyone. Tim and Charlie were very excited about Hero's climb on 04/12/2015 and leaving to Mt. Everest next day.

Hi 700! We are 300 short? Oh Well maybe this will bring out the last few holdouts Richard! You can ride the lift with your fellow Whitney fest fans.

We have a slight chance for weather up North but it seems like it will be longshot to reach So Cal. Never know but a cooler day would be nice!

See every one next week , if you are anywhere near Lone Pine next Saturday stop in we are having the 4th annual Alabama Hills day.Kurt Wedberg will be in the Hills set up for climbing , Many tours and talks. 2 PM Peter Croft will talk about the climbing on the Eastside and 3 PM at the Hostel we will have a cookout and finish off the day, and make it down for the Hero's hike Saturday night or drive down early Sunday.

Shin did you and Rick leave the bread crumbs?

I'm actually having Charlie carry me down, so I should be there before you guys.

Hi Doug. I am interested in taking the chair down... I'll be carpooling with Shin that day. I've never ridden the chairlift down and don't know how far it is to the Baldy Lodge. Any chance I could hitch a ride with you at the bottom of the lift to the lodge? Or do you have any suggestions? Thanks.

Hi The lift runs from the Main Lodge? area down to the Parking lot last year this is where most things happened ,sign in and parking , Shin and others go to a Lodge/Cafe after some hikes so if that is where you need a ride I should have room. See you Sunday!

I'm enjoying these Inland Empire peaks too much. Could we switch Sunday's hike to Mt. Jurupa?

Yes, you should. Hopefully you won't still be under ghost protocol.

And yes, thanks again, Doug, for a great day. I'm just sorry that you and Jack spent so much time trying to figure out what to do with the sign that you missed the hike...

So basically walking from the Rancho Cucamonga REI to the Starbucks up the street? That's more than I can handle on a Monday. frown

Hi A million stories yesterday shared with old friends and many new ones . The Thank you list is long. Thank each one of you for sharing the day for the Heros and Shin.
The weekend started with the Alabama Hills Day and was able to see many people interested in the Hills. Peter Croft did a slide show and inspired 3 13 year old young men and the crowd. Kurt, Tristen and Andrew did climbing in the Hills and supported the local Boyscout troup , many tours and talks , Horse back ride in the Hills , Native Plant Society tour a Birding tour and Jim Kenna the State Director gave a great talk about the Hills and the Stewardship Group. We had a gathering at the Hostel afterwards and shared the day. Sorry I missed Jeffs gathering.
Sunday morning not like the normal cold chill in the air, snow in the Bowl and the feeling of can I make it up the Mountain. The parking lot was full of not cars but energy and as we headed up the Mountain you could sense the spirit of the Day for Charlie and Shin which bonds us together. Thank you

OK so the sign Paul Wehan ordered was sent to Tom Brown Bob R. brought it to the Hostile Tracie was shome how in the loop and was for a group hike about 5 years ago. The sign was used for a group hike! A very large group hike.

Doug, thanks for getting everybody together for the such a worthy cause, the WPSMB guys and gals turned up in force to show their appreciation not only for our wounded heroes but also for your leadership in our hiking community. It was an awesome day with Shin hitting his 400th mark, what will he do next? Good luck to Charlie and Tim on Everest.

wish I saw this thread before the weekend - thought the event was great and inspiring. I went out early with the trail runners for Fastest Badass, but I don't think any of those guys were carrying 30lbs in their packs like I was.

Just want to pass along my thanks to Doug for being the force behind WPSMB participation. Great cause, and great day.

First pic is taken going up at 10:10. Approximately 20 hikers in view.

Second Pic taken at 11:25 shows the same section trail (just a bit more), but with over 100 hikers in view.
