I've been hiking Baldy a long time and enjoy it. I've also been on a few other So Cal peaks. Wondering what some of your favorite So Cal hikes are you use for training besides Baldy, San Gorgonio, and San Jacinto.

The shortcut up Falling Rock Canyon to Ontario Peak is a nice alternative, you can add in Sugarloaf, Big Horn and if you are feeling really spry you can keep going and do Cucamonga or Etiwanda or both - this all done out of Ice House Canyon.

I'll second that about Cucamonga and Etiwanda. Adding them to Ontario, Bighorn and Sugarloaf (via Falling Rock canyon) makes for a great and rewarding training day. Go early and when it's not too hot. The views off both Cucamonga and Etiwanda are terrific. Big rocky drop offs, wide vistas in all directions.

Also in the San Gabes are the Three Peaks (out of Ice House Canyon); Pine and Dawson (out of Manker Flats). Near SanG you can hike up Dobbs and over to Bighorn (another Bighorn in the SanG wilderness) and Dragon peaks (just below SanG). Dragon has a neat summit too. And many destinations out of South Fork trailhead.

Around SanJ are even more fine hikes.
