I've just been day-dreaming, but out of curiosity does anyone one know of any routes or ascents of Tunnabora Peak from George Creek via Tunnabora's long Northeast Ridge?

I'm aware that the standard approach is over Cleaver Col from the N. Fork LP Crk. The West Side is the easier Class 2-3 approach from the Wallace Creek Drainage (WEST).

However my interest is doing some fun ridge-routes this summer. I want to go back and knock of Russell from the east (I'm up for the route I just hit snow last year). Maybe give the East Ridge of Carl Heller a go. Possibly try Lone Pine Peak or Williamson's NE ridge.

As far as Tunnabora goes, I like the idea of scouting it out this summer and, If it can be done, I'd like to do it.

Mountains by a hairy means...

Hi Ok so for the last few days I have scouted out the ridge yesterday it hit me why not many if anyone would do that route ,you start about 3000' lower and add more miles mostly in the desert and brush and old pot farm area.

Foothill Rd was hit hard last year so driving into the George creek area may not happen from the north so that leaves Hogback to the campsite on George creek as the staging area.

The ridge to ride is the Portal Buttress around to Tunnabora then you would have a story!!Come down your NE ridge as a traverse back to your car at the entrance to the Portal canyon (end of the second switchback on the Portal road.) This ridge would give you the chance to do some low 10 climbing and a lot of air.Ask Jack about the air. I will sneak the webcam over a few degrees north so you can study both areas. Thanks Doug
