DV road report just yesterday reported the road is finally open to the kilns, however it has to be approached via the emigrant road as the Trona-Wildrose road is still closed. Having seen Telescope in recent days from a distance the snow cover looks significant, so it will likely entail snowshoes. The crux will be that ne ridge of telescope itself; will probably want pointy things and an ice axe for that part.
Hoping that road from Trona re opens as that is a much more direct approach to that area from IWV......

The 190/Panamint Springs Road was closed early Saturday morning morning when I went past (because of flooding), that was just before the storm moved in, nobody then seemed to know when it would reopen. Hope it's soon.

I'll throw out the comment that I couldn't even make it to the Owens Peak Trailhead the other day (too much snow and ice on the road)... that's only in the Fives... Five Fingers had snow on the trail... that's only in the Fours...

It was a COLD storm... it didn't drop loads, but it seems to be sticking around longer than it normally would.

Here is a picture of Telescope Peak from Death Valley on Nov. 29. There is a fair amount of snow up there.

Great shot - anyone been out there in the last week or so, and if so, how much of that snow has lingered on?

Pretty much the same scene as Richard's pic when I was near there on 1/6/14.
