I just rescheduled my SoCal trip to accommodate a KW Baldy hike (if it happens). Hoping Kurt is recovered by then... At least I have a chance of 'keeping up'. smile

I'm looking forward to giving the shows and the Baldy hike. My ankle is recovering well from surgery. I'm hoping it'll be well enough to hike by November 8. I may need to stop at the Hut. It all depends on how my ankle feels. I'm itching to get back outside!

Let me know if you plan on coming either by dropping me a note or adding your name to this thread.

All the best,

Kurt

Count me in. I was planning on hiking Baldy the next day, 11/9, which is my birthday but I can celebrate a day early to be in such great company.

I just hope the ankle heals completely. That's all that matters. Whatever happens on the 8th... I know it will be a great time by all! Look forward to it!

What are you planning for start time?

Start time will be the usual 6am. I might be walking slower smile smile.

You're correct that the ankle healing up normally is the most important thing. That's the primary goal. I'm spending the bulk of my time with that being the focus these days. I've been a big time gym rat at the CrossFit Bishop. Here are some pics of some of my shenanigans that have kept me busy. It's been fun but MAN I can't wait to get back outside!!!!

20# Medicine Ball Sit Ups

One Legged Rowing

Volume Dips, 3 on the minute for 30 minutes

18' rope climb 30 days post op

One Legged Push Ups

One Legged Kettle Bell Deadlifts

Slightly weighted pull ups

For anybody planning on attending one of these shows I just wanted to tell you you're in for a treat. I went to the Oceanside show last night. It was a packed house and this ranks up there with some of the best shows I've seen Kurt give.

For anybody going on Friday night I'm going to try to make it and bring a couple friends.

Rock on!

Kurt, I'll see you at Manker Flats Friday AM. I plan on just going up to the Ski Hut. I may be plus one, if a buddy gets Friday off work. See you then !

As Sierra said your in for a treat, Desiree,CatB,and I carpooled down to Solana Beach to see Kurts presentation, met Jack and Betsy there, and were treated to some "oh my gosh" slides, way to go Kurt, On the way home one of the topics was "damn that's a lot of shoveling"..

Congrats to you Kurt, a few of us will be there at Manker on Friday if you can make it, if you can't we understand.

Thanks A16

Thanks to all of you who attended the shows the last two nights in Oceanside and Solana Beach. It was great to hear all the positive feedback on my presentation. Mark, I think you get the award for the longest distance traveled! Great photo from last night.

I know a few of you are waiting to see if I'm going to make the Baldy hike on Friday to decide whether you'll go or not. I'm officially taking myself out of the Baldy climb. Yesterday I tested my ankle on an indoor climbing wall and it felt OK but today it was a little sore. As much as I'm itching to get back outside I need to get this ankle healed up correctly first.

For those who go it looks like the weather will be great!

I'm looking forward to seeing a bunch of you at the shows in Tarzana and West LA. They've been having a "Happy Half Hour" at 6:30pm. I'll be there for that. Feel free to come by and say hello!

All the best,

Kurt

Kurt, you're smart to listen to your body but I will miss the chance to hike with you again (and to redeem myself for the hike down from Trail Peak).

Hey folks, will there still be a group on Friday? My original plan was to hike on Saturday, my b-day, but I switched to Friday to hike with the Board group. If there will be a group count me in.

Dang, it's already Friday?
Imagine how much more hectic things would be if I were gainfully employed...
Still planning on making the WLA Show...
Might stick around LA for a Baldy Climb on Saturday morning...
...if anybody else is heading up...

Enjoy your birthday Burt, however you decide to celebrate it!

Had Kurt's WLA show penciled in on my calendar all week, look forward to seeing everyone there tonight. Unfortunately can not make Baldy until Sunday, still better a day late than never.

cheers Phil
