Is Cottonwood Pass trail head open now (Oct. 13, 2013)? We plan to hike from there to the lakes next weekend. Are there any gates from the road from Lone Pine to the trail head that might be locked because of the shutdown? Also, anyone know the road condition to the trail head? TIA. Bob

Hey Rob I dont think any part of the sierras is open because I asked if any body knew of the main trail conditions and not one person replied everyones staying home .Steve.

People on the Whitney Zone message boards are reporting that the Horseshoe Meadow Road was still open as of the 12th.

Probably because you didn't phrase your question as an answer (like Jeopardy in reverse). Oh, and I think most tend to ignore new posts asking what is already being answered in the age-old Main Trail conditions thread 5/13-11/13
