Seems we have some hardware/software incompatibilities on the web cam issue. Working on it though.

But I hope you will keep posting your pictures no matter what.

December 28, 2008 from a frozen Diaz Lake.

It didn't look like a whole lot of snow fell in the southern Sierra.

I like seeing the ravens that sit on the power pole so often.

Another thing to note: If you check the picture throughout the day, the power pole seems to grow taller. (Actually, Mt. Whitney grows, too.) Apparently, the Hostel building is flexing as temperatures change, causing the camera angle to change slightly.

That is a beautiful shot, from a viewpoint I doubt I'll see on foot any time soon (or distant for that matter). Thank you for posting. Might I ask what kind of camera you're using now?

You're welcome.

I'm using a Canon 50D and a Panasonic TZ5.

The spot where the shot was taken from is an easy walk from the Portal. Take the road to the right just before the last switchbacks up to the Portal, park the car by the gate, walk up the dirt road around one switchback to the old dump site. Head up and over to the left, thru some brush to a huge, flat boulder with a smaller boulder sitting on top of it. Set up your tripod.

This shot was with a 500mm zoom lens (NOT a mirror!) (800mm equivalent on the 50D), at the short end of the zoom, making the perspective different.

Couldn't pick a single favorite:

Laid back at Girl Scout (/Barney/Thor) Lake.

A gust of wind blows across Girl Scout (/Barney/Thor) Lake.

Ominous clouds cross the Sierra crest.
