Hey Friends..

Just thought I'd send a link to all my friends here on the site. We actually managed to summit two of Colorado's 14ers via the less traditional routes last week. My wife's first 14er..!

Pics and story here: Link!

Now I'm trying to convince here that Mt. Shasta would be a great trip! laugh

I can't wait to come back out to the Sierras!

Regards,

Congratulations to you both. Grays and Torreys were my first 14ers, years ago, and I did them again a few years ago with my son. But both times I did the standard route which is a whole lot easier than what you did. I'm really impressed by your hike.

Just remember to post the date if you do head up to Shasta... haven't been back up there in more than 10 years... this would be a really good excuse too.

Here in Vail working this week...life is tough. There is something nice about being able to run out and climb a 14er before work!

Reason has seldom worked because it has seldom been tried.

Great story, Chris! The accompanying pic, as always, did a great job of taking us along for the ride. Congrats to you both, esp to Marisa for pushing through her fear!! Boy, I know how that feels.

Good question. It's funny because on the way down from Torreys, as we were getting hailed on and rain and were so sore..I remember saying to Marisa:

"Don't worry about it..as miserable as you are..in about 6 hours the memory starts to fade and you'll have difficulty remembering how miserable you were..and you'll already start thinking about coming back."

laugh Isn't that the truth.

I'd like to get back to the Sierras for our next 14er. I doubt Kai will be old enough still..but we are planning to bring him up in kayaks, on mountains, and on the trails.

I know Kent Ashcraft is no longer with us - but the spirit of how he raised his children has been transferred to us.

Thanks for all the kind comments - Hey Laura...I gotta go check out some of your albums and find out what you've been up to! They are always inspirational..

Pics from today - Kai's first kayak lesson in our pool..haha.. Do they make 2T size crampons??
