Do I really need to store food in a bear can if camping at Iceberg Lake?

No. The rangers at the station in LP also state that. I went up a coupla weeks ago to IBL and did not need one. I brought one 'cuz I thought I did, but the rangers flat out said nope, ya don't need one.

I've never run into a bear in the Sierra's but I sure have run into a lot of hungry marmots. We hate carrying the big bear cans but they do help keep your stuff safe when you're out on summit day.
