A simple question:
What's the best mountaineering prank that you've been a part of?

I'm sure somebody can top this, but here's my favorite: My wife and my buddy's girlfriend once put ten pounds of rocks in his pack. He did over 2,000 feet of gain before he discovered them. He was furious and immediately blamed me. The girls nearly died laughing. My buddy married somebody else.

We did that to a buddy who was going on a solo trip. At first we were going to put rocks in his pack, but he could just ditch those where ever. So we put a couple bricks in there. Bricks in the wilderness isn't leave no trace, so he had to carry them back.

My friend Scott told me about one of his pranks. Apparently one night he taped up a rattlesnake's mouth, got it sufficiently agitated and then threw it into into his friends tent. In the dark, they of course didn't know its head was taped up. Needless to say the sound of a riled up rattlesnake in their tent resulted in pandemonium. I guess they had some pretty good pranks back in the 60s.

How does one not notice an extra ten pounds? I would notice an extra ten ounces...

Dropped some Sugar Daddies on a rock during a break. Then "noticed" the "deer droppings" and showed the group how to tell what a deer has been eating by tasting their droppings.

How funny. We did same thing when I was young(er) (in Europe). Once you put backpack down on the break after resting you can't notice the weight difference immediately, but after while you getting slower and slower. We did mostly to people who complains on everything and there is always some "black sheep" in the group. It was really funny.
It is interesting how people actually do same things everywhere cool
