I just bought some black diamond trekking poles with foam grips/handles but i realize now that for showshoeing in winter the grips may become saturated with water if snow gets on them and thus getting my gloves wet and freezing my hands. Is this plausible?I would imagine in summer rain the foam grips would be the same problem?Yay or Nay?
Would hard plastic would be better for this wetness issue?

Thx

It's closed cell foam. Doesn't absorb water.

Well why not hold them under the faucet and see if you can squeeze
some water into the foam like a normal sponge. It they are truly waterproof only the surface will get wet.

I've had positive results with Nik-Wax on various items -my shoe
laces for instance never get iced up any more.

Maybe give your grips a treatment?
