Any word on 3 missing, due back at Portal at 6:00 pm? A nephew of a friend and his 2 friends. The nephew has much experience on the mountain. SAR I understand is involved.

Thanks,

Bob

Hi I drove up to the Portal last night , some new snow say 4" at the trailhead ,storm had moved out .One pickup in the lot I think it is a Nissan - Mismo? I talked with the Sheriff on the way down and a search will be done with aircraft this morning if the hikers are not back.
This time of the year conditions are very tricky , high winds , cold nights and snow from a storm thats says inches can be many feet meaning travel will be very slow if at all for hours due to white out conditions .

Lets hope that the one with experience gets the group down . Thanks Doug

Hi Doug. Thanks for the update again! I just spoke to the extended family. When the storm came in they hunkered down, built a snow cave. Were going to come out Sunday, but white out conditions so they stayed put. This morning they headed down and spotted the aircraft. Again, thank you!
