I’ve got to know many of you over the years, either by meeting you personally on various hikes, or by communications thru this Board. Some of you already know that I’ll be turning 60 years in a couple weeks.
I will be enjoying my birthday by doing a day hike up Mt. Whitney on Saturday, October 8th (walk-in permit and weather permitting), and hope to see some of you on the trail or at Whitney Portal. Some of my family will be joining me and camping at the Portal Thursday and Friday prior to the hike, and then we will stay at the Whitney Portal Hostel in Lone Pine Saturday night (the 8th).
I am blessed with good health, and I am loved by family and friends…. no one could ask for more. So for my birthday, I am going to borrow an idea from the book “Eat, Pray, Love” by asking family and friends to please consider making a donation to the cause so close to my heart – “A Hike For Hope”.
“A Hike For Hope” was started in 2009 in memory of my younger son. Sonny was committed to helping those living with HIV/AIDS in our county, and the world. He was a compassionate and dedicated advocate for those living with HIV/AIDS. I invite you to visit our webpage
www.ahikeforhope.com for more information on our organization, to read Sonny’s Story, and for donation information if you are so inclined.
Thanks… and I hope to see you on the mountain.
Rosie
