The question I have is what the actual elevation gain is via the Main Trail?

The differential from trailhead (8,360ft) and summit is 6,137ft -(assuming the 14,497ft figure) but this doesn't account for the ups and downs in the trail both ways...

My altimeter put it at north of 6,500, though this might be subject to some error. Does anyone know for sure what the actual gain is?

around 6500 seems somewhere close to correct. you lose ~300-350' between trail crest and the jmt junction - then get to make it back up on the way to the summit. there are a couple other small undulations in the trail lower on the mountain.

Yea, that makes more sense. It was reading closer to +6600ft.
