Just checking to make sure I'm not alone. Hoping to head out about 5:30 and hit the ledges around 6:30, maybe a bit earlier.

If you're going, let me know. It'll be my first time up the MR. I've done the MT a few times.

Won't be there in body, but will be supporting you in spirit. Have a great climb on this great route!

Thanks ClimbSTRONG.... yep, from one cancer survivor to another, I REALLY appreciate it. I went to a funeral today for my friends 23 year old daughter who did from melanoma. As you know, it hurts even more when it hits home. I was a ball of tears, but ended up being extremely inspired by her life. Keep up the fight and the great attitude. I will think of you and of course all my other survivors on both he boards when I climb, especially the last 400 feet!!!!

Below is some info on Amanda..... I've been getting quite a few P.M.'s about her. We are extremely lucky my friend....Joe

Do you have permits in hand or are you planning on picking them up Sat? Either way, how many?

I'm not going up the MR on the 18th, but I'll look for you at the top.

Quillansculpture, I read the post you mentioned about Amanda...that is way too close to home...my son, Nathan, will turn 23 this fall. I hate to think what it must feel like to lose a daughter or son at that age. My prayers are with her family.

Thanks Alan..... yea, it's a bit hard to express how tough it is for the family. This is the second child they've lost..... Amanda was just a sweet and determined girl. Her pic is in front of me on my desk.

RJP82: No permits yet. Three of the original 6 are not going, but one new person has added their name. I'll be trying to acclimate on Friday night, then down to town for a good nights sleep. My back tweaked on me after my Baldy hike on Saturday, the 10th..... so I'm keeping an eye on that. Of course Vicodin, Cyclobenzaprine and Naproxen help. I'm actually going to wait until Friday to see how my back is doing before I commit to the MR for Sunday as I can wait until Oct 2nd, when I do have permits.

If I do the MR on Sunday, I'll be at the trailhead at 5:00 AM.

Hope your back holds up. Unless someone pops up with a spare permit sometime in the next week-1/2 I will hit it what ever day I can get a surrendered permit for. If I get one for Sunday I will see you on the route - at your time if I'm by myself. Either way have a great hike.. It's a fun "trail".
