I know this is a long shot, but if anyone has any day hike permits for Saturday, October 8th that they will not be using and will be calling the permit office to cancel them, I'd REEEAAALY appreciate if you could contact me to let me know when you'll be making that call... I could then call to reserve them. Right now there are no permits available for that day; It's a long drive to count on walk-in permits. Thanks!!!

Rosie

Your chances are excellent that you can get a no-show permit the day before since you are going that late in the season.

You're probably right... I'm debating on just going for it, or maybe reserving some permits for Sunday as a "fall back" date, but Sunday doesn't work as well for family

I think October 8th is full, but the 15th, 22nd and 29th is wide open...

Hope this helps!

I'm thinking about a day hike sometime in October as well. grin

Thanks btsan. Yah... I've been checking, and have called a couple times also, just on the off-chance that someone might have called in a cancellation.

I'll be watching your post on October weather as well; thanks for posting it.

I called yesturday, and there were no new cancellations.
We'll have to keep trying or settle for mid to late October dates.
