Anyone know the conditions of the road to Symmes Creek/Shepherd Pass trailhead? I drove it last year when I did Tyndall and it was rough at times but still passable in my Honda Civic Coupe. I even saw a Porche Boxter that made it there. I'm wondering if it is the same after this year's heavy winter or if it is now only possible in a high clearance vehicle or all wheel drive. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I'm gunning for a big willy dayhike on Labor Day weekend. Don't want to make the drive from Bakersfield only to discover I can't make it to the trailhead. Thanks...
Still passable with your civic if carefully driven, i was parked next to a Prius in early July. The roughest stretch is after the last turn past the creek, only half a mile or so where you really need to be alert.
Reason has seldom worked because it has seldom been tried.
