Do you know where to buy a gas canister on the way from Los Angeles LAX airport to Lone Pine?

How do you recommend to dispose of the partially used canister on the way back?

Elevations in Lone Pine - and they take it back. It's that little gear shop just north of the hostel.

It's a small footprint shop but they have a lot of gear in there.

In case of a slow traffic, Elevations may be already closed. frown

Do you know whether Big 5 or Walmart sell gas canisters?

They do, and you can also buy them in Lone Pine. There's usually a supply at the Portal Store as well.

On the other hand, last Thursday evening around 8:30, they seemed to be the only gear store open. I was looking for a trail cup, and was happy to find that they were open.
