Hello -

Some friends and I were caught in the July 29 storm while attempting to summit Mount Langley. We initially took "shelter" around 13,800' where I took out my camera to document the events. When we actually saw lightning we quickly bailed on the summit attempt and ran down until we were able to take better shelter under bigger rocks. It was then that I realized my camera case was not closed and my camera fell out somewhere.

If anybody happens to find it (a silver Canon Powershot A320) please contact me here!!

Thanks and be safe out there!

13,800 - only a couple hundred feet shy of the summit. Do you have your track from previous. From the sand switchbacks - it would be hard to exactly trace anyones routes - there are so many variations to the summit.

I tried to keep an eye for your camera, but I didn't see it. There were at least 3 other groups at the top of Langley on 8/14. I asked one of them, they didn't see it either (but they did see your message here). There are too many ways up and down the mountain. It would greatly increase your chances of recovering the camera if you could estimate the coordinates of the spot where you took out the camera and where you found that it was missing.

Sorry I haven't been able to come on here lately.

Thanks so much for those of you who kept their eyes open. I really appreciate it.

I am asking my friends if they have the GPS coordinates of where we stopped. I will post them once I get them.

Thanks again. If any of you lose anything in the Escondido, CA area, please let me know!! :-)

Thanks again for those keeping your eyes open! Here is a link to the KMZ file of our trip's GPS track. You can see the furthest extent of our trip on the slope of Langley and I noticed the camera was missing at 13,225 feet, or thereabouts. We had to do some boulder hopping for a little bit on the return down and I am wondering if that is when it fell out. In which case it won't ever be found except by marmots.

Thanks again!
