Mt. Whitney Portal Store & Hostel Forums General Mt. Whitney Portal Store Message Board Day Hike up NFLP creek May 14, 2011

Bob and I hiked up to Lower Boy Scout Lake and then I went a little higher towards the Thor plateau before turning around and glissading down. Met Michael from Ohio who was going up higher and spending the night. It was a nice day in the morning but the winds picked up by afternoon.

Hi Walter - Mike from Ohio.

Enjoyed sharing the trail with you and Bob last Saturday. I pitched camp at UBSL and settled in for a stormy, very windy night. The trail was completely different on Sunday - very icy and still windy. Needed to use crampons on the way back down. The pics from you and Bob were great - hope to see you on the trail again.
