Hey everybody, its been a while since I've posted here. I moved to Idaho almost two years ago, but I've been dreaming of getting back down to the Sierras ever since.

Just was wondering....is anyone out there interested in doing a JMT hike this summer? I'm thinking of starting sometime in late July and taking it easy (3 weeks on the trail or so). I'd like to start in Yosemite and end at Whitney Portal.

Any takers?

join the JMT yahoo group and see if you can hook up with somebody. Lots of people there looking for hiking partners. There's even a database where people list their plans with dates and indicate of they are looking for companions:

July will be a snowy trip this year.

FWIW,
Don't know if you really need a JMT companion. (Having no notion of your trail abilities; sounds like you do know what you are doing though). How is your solo?
Plenty of company at night - hike at your own pace anyway.
The Muir is an adventure, a rolling party, intellectuals and heathens, all playing hopscotch, meeting and passing each other constantly as they all work their way along – the passes. It is not solitude.
You will see/quickly become close to the same 15 – 20 characters for weeks. Believe it or not, can be best if start out alone.

On the trail…”Doin’ the Muir”… an unspoken bond.

- just my 2¢

Oh yes, I'll probably be going solo. I just thought I'd offer to see if anyone else wanted to come. I know the folks on this board are pretty good outdoorsmen so it wouldn't hinder me to have a couple people like that to hike with.
