I am planning to come up the last weekend in April (brrr). Think the road will be open by then?

There's a good chance that it will be possible to drive to the portal, but there's also a good chance that the road will still be officially closed.

Biggest risks at that point are rockfall or avalanche blocking parts of the road; or late snow covering it.

Thanks. I have before had to hike to the portal from where the road is blocked, may do so again.
