Hi everyone, sorry it's taken so long for me to post this but I've had trouble logging into the board...Tonight is my lucky night I guess.
Anyway, a couple of weeks ago I posted about a story I was working on about our climb up the mountaineers route at the end of January. I am a TV reporter for KTVN Channel 2 in Reno (CBS) and got paid to climb, ski, and document the mountaineers route. Our partner on the project was the Reno Gazette Journal. At www.rgj.com you'll find the print version of the story written by Mark Vanderhoff and photos by Scott Sady. Mark debriefed us after the climb, and wrote his article. He's from Kentucky so we'll forgive him for not feeling ready for such an endeavour. Scott, however came along and got some great photos you'll find in an online gallery. Also on the web site you'll find my two video pieces. They're each about 3 minutes long, and approx 6 MB each, so you'll need a fast internet connection or a lot of patience to view them. You'll also need the Apple Quictime player, a free download at apple.com. I hope you enjoy them...and p.s. for the first timers that may read the article, it's not nearly as hard as the article makes it sound...but the last pitch beyond the notch definately raised the heart rate and blood pressure. Happy Climbing,

Brian Hickey

Brian-I loved your post of your recent climb up the Mountaineer's route.Video-pictures-text were all great...what an exhilarating trip. We hiked the mountaineer's route last summer on a day trip and plan to return this summer for a (much) more relaxed 3 day trip. It is a great route-less crowded than the traditional climb up the main trail and with a few more fun spots!!!

Brian that was great footage. I really enjoyed the video. Do you have any better footage of climbing the from the notch to the summit?
