It's coming up on one year since the last Alabama Hills group hike. Time to plan the next one. Late January? Early February?

If the hills don't have snow, options. 1) If portal road is clear, hike to Lone Pine Lake 2) If the portal road is not clear maybe a hike to the portal 3) Other suggestions?

Let's hope for a nice snow storm for the Alabamas around the holidays, they are stunning covered in snow. Link to the January 2010 Alabama Hills Hike/Potluck:

Good idea James!
We've had pretty good luck on these group hikes so far wink
I think (if work schedules allow) Curt and I would be up for this hike again...the last one was awesome!

The last time I saw Doug (The Proposal Baldy Climb) I mentioned to him that people were expressing interest in doing the Thompson Trail again. He said he'd look at the calendar and pick some dates. We need to do it as a winter hike and then again in Spring when the wildflowers are blooming. (Later in spring than last year though.)

Bump...

Another one I'm thinking of is Horsetail Falls in Yosemite in mid to late February if anyone is interested.

love Yosemite.
Wouldn't take much at all to twist our (B&C)arm to come along.

Keep us in the loop please?

Speaking of Yosemite - today as I was driving north on CA14 out of Mojave, the CalTrans sign flashed "Open" for all 3 passes. Don't think that's really the case.
