Has anyone climbed University Peak via the Kearsarge Lakes and University Shoulder route and can comment on the route (good? bad? route-finding difficulties? loose rocks?)

Thanks,

Amin

Extremely loose and there's also an annoying moraine. I descended that way one time and found it rather unpleasant (slid down in a small landslide). I'm sure it's worse going up.

I took a chute at the halfway point of the pinnacles and traversed them over to University and that was more fun than the loose slog up (save that for the way down). The pinnacles are mostly 3rd to low 5th class with some great exposure.

But, yeah, as Rick said: there's an annoying moraine that is bigger, longer and wider than it looks. (Best to stay on the east side, however, as there is a use trail that picks up sooner than the west side of the high lake)
