After scrolling through the useless dissertations on why this board may go down and how much of an issue it is to maintain such worthless banter, i laughed at how long that thread got and how ironic.

Back to the real reason this board is here: I just moved to CA. I went up Whitney in early July and thre was still plenty of snow and cold temps at Trail Camp. I didn't make it so I'm going back in mid Oct. Anyone know of typical storm conditions and temps in Mid Oct? does it typically snow at that time? i'm from Texas, I have no clue. but I am preparing for anything. help.

peace

October weather is usually a mixed bag. We often get some days of warm, dry "Indian Summer" and also often see the first big storm of the year some time during the month. I think it is a great time to climb Whitney because the crowds are gone. It just means that you need to have the right gear for rain, snow and/or cold to climb safely. Hope you have a great climb.

Weather channel shows temperatures in town until the 6th of October as about 87/47. Nice during the day but cool at night. So far there is no sign of the first big storm. Keep an eye on the weather and come prepared for any weather, just like Sierra Sam suggests. October can be a very nice time to be there, just like he said.
