I drove to Joshua tree last night just to watch the meteor shower, the sky was clear and the stars were amazing. Did see a few dozen meteors. my question is, is the viewing similar/better from the summit( the moon set around 8pm last night and was not a issue)

ps: will post a couple of star trails later tonight.

Viewing the night sky from the summit is magnitudes better. (Pun intended.)

Carthick,

Nice photo at the top above.

Am I correct in believing that you were shooting to the NNE ?

Can you please tell me, what was your exposure time, aperture setting, and film speed used?

I was out in the desert near Barstow between 2 and 4:30 AM, shooting upward, but haven't got my film developed to see if I caught any meteors yet.

Wish me luck!

Thanks !
