Anyone heading to Russell on Friday the 13th? My Whitney partner for that day may not make it so I'm thinking Russell's east ridge.

Anyone going?

Yetiman, sounds good, enjoy your trip. Got to get that Vivian trip together. Would like to do that before the snows. Once the snow comes it's Jepson direct dude!

Looks like one of two Whitney partners is back on. So Russell will have to wait for another day. I'm releasing a day hike spot on the permit for Friday, the 13th.

Don't forget the meteor shower this Thursday and Friday!

Just in case anyone is heading to Russell soon... I was just up there last weekend and the conditions are great, as you would expect at this time of year. If you bear right a bit on your way up the dreaded sand hill from UBSL, its more solid than it would be otherwise. The 3rd class ridge is really fun and the climbing is never as hard as you'd guess by looking at it from afar. Still, the exposure is sometimes big and you must choose your route carefully if you don't want any 5th class terrain.
