Nice trip report and pictures guys...

Did a night hike last night not 6 peaks but only 2, hit the trail at 9:15pm went up R/R to Hardwood summited there at 11:35,when I topped out from the trees at R/R and hit the bachbone trail I could here the wind going through that one tree stright ahead so I put my glove liners on and jacket, the wind at hardwood was blowing pretty good, enjoyed the desert lights for a few minutes and went on.

Going over to baldy the wind was getting colder, put another layer of gloves on.On the way up the ridge to Baldy I was getting a little sluggish and I layed down on the trail behind a med. size rock and had a bannana and trail bar, got back up and that did the trick, summited baldy at 12:35am. 18 deg. on summit. I took the main chute down the left side of main chute put my mircos on and didn't walk down I scotted down, more snow on chute then I thought..

Got to ski hut at 1:50 and met this guy and I asked are you the Baldy computer guy(big guy)dont remember his name, anyway he invited me in for a cup of of tea they said they saw this guy coming down the bowl and wanted to make sure everything was ok.While I was having my tea he went on the Baldy web site and at 2am the wind chill at the notch was 17deg

Another bitchen night hike on baldy....

Hi Cindy,
What part of your body you haven't broken yet?
I hope you get well soon.
Do any old injuries cure 100%? All my pains never goes away 100% and they come and go whenever they feel like.

Hi Rick,
I enjoyed the trip report very much. You haven't slowed down a second from last year even though you had a long lunch at Notch.

Hi Mike, I thought you gave up a flat land hiking. Glad to see you back. Don't think about 9-11 peaks.

Hi Mark, You are crazy!!! It is time to change your name from So.BayMark to "NightClimber". The So.BayMark sounds too civilized. You are the ONLY regular midnight hiker who hikes R/R to Mt. Baldy and climbs down the main BOWL at night. You are the "King of the Night" of Mt. Baldy.

Take care all crazy guys on Mt. Baldy.

Shin

Nice work Mike and Rick, missed you, as Yeti and I were up at the summit around 11ish.

Hey Mike, thanks again for a great day cool
Regarding the mystery lights; I took into account the our location on Thunder Mt, the Glendora experimental forest mountain in the foreground, the location of the lights and conducted a 3 to 4 brew Fourier transformed triangulation (correcting for the curvature of the earth) and determined the lights are coming from the Aetherius World Headquarters in Hollywood. Worse yet, I’m pretty sure the lights are part of their tractor-beam and they were trying to beam us down for some un-holy indoctrination. Good thing their tractor-beam doesn’t work well in high-wind conditions grin grin

Seriously, the lights were probably coming from LAX wink

Thanks Cindy and hope you heal up quickly smile

Mark, I agree with Shin…you’re crazy. It was freak’n cold & windy up there…..and to do it in the middle of night….yikes eek

Shin-san, get well soon and heal up quickly….cuz come Thurs nite it’s “forearm go-time” in the gym tired

Patrick & Jeff, sorry we missed you guys on Baldy, but it was too cold for me to hang around on the summit in my Bermuda shorts smile

Thanks Mike, I didn't correct for the curvature of the earth until the 2nd or 3rd brew grin

Cheers all!

RG, thanks for the heads-up RE: wind chill. I've been leaving the down jacket at home, and it would have been real uncomfortable having to wear the motorcycle armor (it's heavy) up the mountain yesterday.

Mark, you need to pick a date for a Night Climb of Mt. Whitney. We can take Master Shin up for a whole new experience. Like your style.

Mark you really are nuts. It was so cold on the summit with that wind chill yesterday, I can't imagine being up there at night with that going on. Mike and Rick, the wind gusts blew Talus sideways! 6 summits with that ice and wind...awesome.

Jeff, I could use an easy day. Wish I had read this yesterday. I really do hate wasting time watching TV on a day off.

Richard I'm doing San G and Jepson this coming Saturday by myself your welcome to come down. I've only used the crampons once this winter so need to dust them off for one last climb...
Yeti

Shin, See you Thursday night, Rick and Ryan will be there. Frank is at a tradeshow in Baltimore...

Hi Richard,
There are 11 good peaks you can bag ONE weekend if you are super ambitious and with a long day with cool temperature.
Start Icehouse canyon and down to Ski hut trail:
Sugarloaf,Ontario,Bighorn,Cucamonga,Etiwanda,Timber,Telegraph,
Thunder,Harwood,Baldy,West Baldy.
You can make your LA trip worth while.
It will be very hot Tuesday and Wednesday 90s but it will be 70s
over the weekend and cooler in the mountain.

Shin, the current snow conditions would make any Baldy loop >7 peaks really tough right now.
Wait another month and the conditions should be good for any of these mega-loops.

Look at these TRs quickly before the MyPhotoAlbum links get cut;
Baldy 9-peak loop

Shin, I think there's a 9 peak over by San G...

Totally off topic (and don't ask me to explain myself), but I stand by the rude comments I made about Pakistan on a Baldy climb a few weeks ago...

San Gorgonio 9-Peak loop would extra tough right now with the current snow conditions. Best to wait another month or so.

I did the San G 9-peak loop ~Nov-2005 with David Harris, ET, and Alex Honnold. At the time of the hike I had no idea that Alex was a world-class rock climber. Alex was/is a really nice guy. We had some exciting times crossing the snowy NW slopes of Jepson (Probably similar to the current conditions).

Again trying to post some old TRs & photos before the photos links get cut;

Hi Rick,
All your 9,11,and 13 peaks loop records are a time warping speed.
You must me using a very good trail running shoes.
It looks like there is any more challenge left in Mt. Baldy area.

Shin,
The Baldy 6-peak loop and SG 9-peak loops are both great. You'd love both of them. The SG 9-peak would be much better at least a month from now, maybe more. And you'd get more daylight too. That Ontario, BigHorn, etc. hike you mentioned also sounds like a fun challenge. So when's it going to happen? grin
