I don't have much info on this. I was driving into Onion Valley on Monday when I was stopped by Search and Rescue just before the parking lot. A heliocopter was about to land.

I was told that a climber died on University Peak.

Anyone have info?

Okay, I just saw this in response to the University Peak post.

".....One mountaineer dead in fall on 13,000-foot California peak, another rescued by CHP......"

Yes, I was trying to respond to this when it was posted, had a delay on admin approval on my account.

This was my husband's co-worker. Devastating to the firm, it's been a shock to everyone. He was a super kind guy, we sat with him at a dinner party not 3 months ago.

He loved climbing. I don't know if it was in the article, but CHP had noted in one article I read that he was "properly equipped" and "wasn't where he shouldn't have been." So it was a freak accident that's rocked our whole community.
